Minnesota Lynx center Sylvia Fowles, who is listed as questionable for Thursday’s WNBA second-round game against Phoenix, said she fully expects to play, but just doesn’t know for how long.

Fowles, a two-time WNBA champion with the Lynx and the 2017 league MVP, has been out since Aug. 13 with a calf injury.

“At this point, I do feel strong,” Fowles said in a Zoom call. “I’m just looking forward to being back on the court. I’m definitely trying to contribute in some way or fashion.

“Resting it and letting it heal, and strengthening has pretty much been the process of getting back.”

Until this season, Fowles had not missed a game for the Lynx, whom she joined in a trade from Chicago midway through the 2015 season.

She appeared in just seven of Minnesota’s 22 regular-season games in the bubble in Bradenton, Florida. In the Lynx’s second game on July 28, she broke the WNBA’s career rebounding record.

She currently has 3,400 rebounds.

Fowles played just one minute of the Aug. 13 game before exiting with the injury that kept her out the rest of the regular season. In the six games before that, she averaged 16.7 points and 11.3 rebounds.
